Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman was born in 1822. She died in 1913 at 91. She served as a spy for the Union army. She was the first woman to lead an armed expedition in the Civil War. She is mostly famous for being the one who who guided the raid that liberated more than seven hundred slaves. A famous method that was used by her and the other slave liberaters was the use of song. They would use this method to communicate with one another. It was a great form of code that the South was never able to figure out. In my opinion she is the Rosa Parks of the 1800′s.
